Our home-preschool journal

Our Home Preschool Journal and Lesson Plans. My goal in "teaching" my children at home is to let them be little and learn through play and investigation, with and WITHOUT my help! My hopes for this blog is to keep good records of our projects and themes with reflections of my kids doing them. This blog is mainly for me, but maybe you might find a project for your sweet littles too.

St. Patricks Day

We used the books:
Horray for St. Patrick's Day
Shamrocks
Our Bible Story was Noah and God's Promise

Can you guess what color we emphazised this week? ;)

Art
We painted shamrocks and stamped shamrocks with a heart sponge.  We mixed the 3 basic colors to make all the colors for our rainbow.  We made shamrock covered S's and painted green S's.  The other letter was R and we painted it rainbow and colored with cloud and rainbow stickers.

Learning Tools
I cut out several shamrocks out of green paper.  1 set we played a shape matching game and the other was a number matching game.  (1 shamrock would have the written number, the "match" would have that many dots)

Find the Shamrock game - I taped several shamrocks all over the backyard and send the littles looking for shamrocks.  Egg hunt style!

The letter R for Rainbow
and lots of shamrocks!

* We do more than 1 letter a week because GB already knows all her letters.  We are just working on making (shaping) the letters.  I'm not worried about her sitting down with a pencil and writing the alphabet.  (not developmentally appropriate for her age) I just encourage the shaping or mechanics of making the letters that will develop into correct letter form later.  That is why we do lots of making letters out of playdoh, shaving cream, paint, and little with writing utensils.
